Default Shine on You Crazy Diamond

Syd Barrett dead at 60.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060711/...u/obit_barrett

At least he lived a good portion of his post Floyd days in relative peace, as far as I can tell. I heard that he had schizophrenia, which, combined with healthy amounts of LSD, didn't make for a long-lived life in show biz. But he was the founder of a great band. RIP.

"I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" by Daniel Treacy

There's a little man in a little house
With a little pet dog and a little pet mouse
I know where he lives and I visit him
We have sunday tea, sausages and beans
I know where he lives
Cause I know where Syd Barrett lives

He was very famous once upon a time
But no one knows even if he's alive
But I know where he lives and I visit him
In a little hut in Cambridge
I know where he lives
Cause I know where Syd Barrett lives

And the trees and the flowers are so pretty, aren't they?

He was very famous once upon a time
And no one cares even if he's alive (we do)
But I know where he lives and I visit him
In a little hut by the edge of the wood

Oh shut up!

Wow! I'm moved!

I only discovered Pink Floyd in the last 5 to 10 years. I was so moved by the album "Wish you Were Here" when I learned it was a tribute to Barrett.

Shine on you crazy diamond....

I killed brain cells by the untold millions whilst listening to these guys. Sad to hear this news.

Goodbye, cruel world,
I'm leaving you today.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.

Goodbye all you people,
There's nothing you can say,
To make me change my mind.
Goodbye.

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.

Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try in the twinkling of an eye:
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.

So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know
You may find it hard to get off.

You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still in the run.

And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die.
