Default We interrupt this thread for a very important message.

Pregnancies don't begin until the pregnancy occurs.

Wrong. The pregnancy starts two weeks before you conceive. Ask any OB.

I suppose it typically ends shortly thereafter? :o

Next thing you know, pro-lifers are going to start suing men for not "doing their part" to ensure that a baby who has been alive for 2 weeks makes are conceived. Not conceiving could be considered premeditated. Don't feed the fire, some people are crazy enough.

Counting from the first day of a woman's last menstrual cycle is the way it was done long before we knew as much about fertility as we do now. And it's still done that way because for most women missing a period is how they know they are pregnant. Most women can tell the doctor when their last cycle began, but they wouldn't necessarily know when conception happened.

The calvinball may be in any thread, and may have any name, but it usually has the word "calvinball" in it.

Let me make sure I understand: instead of counting forward from t=-14 to find t=0, some dolt renamed t=-14 as "zero?" Where's that Mathematical Pet Peeves thread?
