The suspect shot himself in the head during the struggle, and passed out after the 66-year-old customer administered four blows to the head with the Mott's applesauce.
Getting beat with applesauce is so bad it makes you want to shoot yourself...

funny how he passed out from the beating, not the gunshot wound to the head...

Did the guy have to pay for the applesauce? I dropped a can of pasta sauce and they made me pay for it...

yeah...we should really have a thread where we post strange or peculiar news instead of having a bunch of individual threads. Heck, we could call it "Strange News". Maybe, if Pseudolus isn't too busy, he could set it up.

I was going to say that, but I didn't want to sound "snippy". Thanks 124192874125345814688! (Did I pronounce that name correctly?)

or how 'bout this: um...close...that's my American name. 1695814 is my name from the home country. With the exchange rate and all...well, it can get to be quite long once translated.

It sounds like the punk was strung out on something, as the article says he "jumped up on the freezer" and pointed the gun at the clerk. Which enabled the old guy and the clerk to push him onto the floor. Why would you jump up onto something and put yourself in an unstable position like that?
