Meh. People do it on MTV's Surreal World all the time.

I know it is fun to bag on her tennis ability, but she was actually a very good (not superstar) singles player and a dominant doubles player.

I think it was the "Look at me!" marketing strategy that backfired.

I doubt she says this when she looks at her bank statements.

And I doubt she was behind the "Look at me." Dirty old men at ESPN likely made her more famous than she would have been otherwise

That's what I don't understand. People seem to laugh her off as a tennis player, but she was a rather good one. She had 13 doubles titles, including two grand slams.

Doubles is not all that impressive. We were supposed to watch her win singles titles. She probably could have been a great tennis player if she had dedicated more of her time to the sport. We'll never know.

She peaked in the top 10 and spent a lot of her career between 10 and 15. She had a string of injuries that limited her career.

It's funny how public opinion works. Andre Agassi was an example of a total waste of talent who was given way too much way too soon and pissed away a good portion of his career eating Taco Bell on his private jet and sleeping with models. Then he decided to start trying in his late 20's and he is retiring a minor deity. There are no dominant players in today's women's game. If Anna is healthy, she may still have a chance to compete.
