Default P5er goes busto

Don't know if any of you follow P5 discussion, but Duff McGuire made a post this week about quitting poker. He was down tons of money and getting his life together.

This is from a guy P5's has at 62 or something of their top 100 list. I bet there are alot more on that list that are -EV, not +EV.

Is the list based on statistics or is it just based on opinion? If it's opinion, it's probably biased towards the big score, and you just don't see the even bigger losses, so I'd agree that type of list would have a sig number of -EV people.

Not sure, I never did look into their formula for ranking people.

It looks as if this Duff guy is going to do a podcast before he starts his new job on monday and quits poker forever. I'll def listen to that one.

It used to be completely based on subjective things (the rankings).

They just recently changed it to be almost all objective, with a small subjective component (which is why JohnnyBax dipped to #2).

However, those objective rankings are still based on results, not ROI, or "profit". So, someone who spends $100,000 in tournies and wins 5 with 5 other cashes for a winnings total of $80,000 likely could be ranked higher than someone that actually shows a profit.

Isn't there some type of membership where you can see how much they spent in buyings?

Would love to see a guy with a bunch of nut swingers following him around with 350K in winnings and 500K in buyins.

But Duff may have been up in Poker, but maybe Poker drove him to other gambling....

that was my impression.

Plus he hinted at other health problems related to poker (I am sure related to bad diet, lack of exercise, weird sleeping patterns, etc etc).
