Default Tim Tebow

Can someone please explain the fascination with this kid? CBS just gushed all over him during the Alabama game. He's a freshman, who when he's in the game, is going to run the QB sneak 80% of the time. So?

FWIW, I'm not a gator-hater. In fact, my dad is a UF grad, so I have a healthy appreciation for Gator football, even if I wouldn't consider myself a fan.

My favorite part is that Leak gets booed at home because they want to seet his kid play.
I work with some UF people that love the kid too. I just don't get it.

I like the idea of getting the next QB some time in meaningful situations because teams turn completely over every 4 years. However, I dont understand why the new guy is suddenly more popular than Leak.

They loved Leak as a soph, too. Maybe there is something to it. Maybe he's gonna be a freaky, good QB some day. I just want to know what the Tebow-love is all about. Becuase there is nothing terribly interesting about him right now. Unless you count Alabama not stopping him when they know damn well what he is going to do. He doesn't have any business getting a lousy 28 yards on 9 carries. He's running the ball, folks. Cover man-to-man (given he'll throw 1 time in 10 plays), and stack the box. Dare him to throw. And down by the goalline?!? C'mon, Bama. No way in hell he throws. He's running the ball.

Wait 'til Tebow goes 15-41, 142 yds, 4 INT's, 0 TD's against Tennessee. Assuming they don't run the QB sneak out of the shotgun 40 times a game when he becomes the starter, that is.

Backup QB is always the most popular player, unless the starter is an absolute star.

What is special about this kid is everyone knows he's going to run 80% of the time and yet he gets 5+ yards on every carry.

Isn't the starter a Heismann candidate?

Yeah, I know what you are saying. But from a purely football aspect, I thought it was silly for the announcers to just keep talking about him and try to make him the story of the game. It went from the beginning of the game, right up to the end. Enough already.

JD, he WAS a pre-season Heisman candidate. IMO, I don't think you can be a Heisman winner when you aren't even on the field for 20% of the plays run from scrimmage. Even goal line plays.

Maybe Tebow is Swedish for Favre, and they just can help it.

I thought it was silly too. I don't care for the new guy on CBS and Vern is losing his touch.
