Avoidance of some of these shows is why I do not mind episode after episode of Blues Clues as much as I otherwise might. The only problem I now have with the Blues Clues repeats is that at bedtime when he requests a song I am no longer asked for the "Steve song" (Now it's time for so long...) or the "Blue song" (the clues, notebook etc) but he is asking for specific songs from specific episodes and I do not have THOSE memorized.

Besides Blues Clues we have PBS which I like more than most Nick shows, Veggie Tales, and a variety of Disney movies (yes Mrs Nesbit, Toy Story 2 is way up on the list)

BOB!! LARRY!!

You are my Cheeseburger!

Veggie Tales ROCK!!!!

Nick is going downhill fast. Martians, catdogthing, ... going the way of cartoon network. Bob is mildly annoying; Arnold teaches sarcasm; catdog and martians are just strange. I think they are forgetting their audience is largely 'little folk' and are gearing toward the 10 (12?) and over crowd (i've even heard that more people over age 18 watch spongebob than people under 18 do...)

Flora, here's an idea: turn the friggin' thing off!
Last week's Newsweek had a great article about kids and their TV viewing habits.
I'll try to bring it in for some choice quotes.

My kids and I are hopeless on this, but yours might still have a chance.

Is anybody else nauseated by Spongebob's laugh? For those of you fortunate enough to have no idea what I am talking about, it is a very shrill, stuccato, "Daaaaa!! Daaaaaa!!"

My kids love the show, but I gotta tell you I would sooner shove a butter knife through my cranium than hear that sound one more time.

Bonnie Bonnie Bonnie...why do you place the burden of content on Nickelodeon?

Shouldn't the parents be responsible for the shows their children watch? A brand name like Disney prides itself on being non-offensive without having to preview its content. I don't recall Nick ever trying to put out the message that its content was always 100% safe and sanitized.

Allright, I'll grant you that I don't have children and I might feel differently if I did, but I sold them on the open market...and let me tell you, they fetch a pretty penny in other parts of the Globe.

Who was it who said, "I love children, especially if they're cooked properly?"

There's nothing offensive about Nicktoons. The title of "Butt Ugly Martians" is the only thing that comes close. Everything except this title is safe and sanitized.

In a recent episode of Arthur on PBS the "kids" tried to go one week without TV. When I suggested trying this to my 4 1/2 year old she seemed mortified. That's when I decided that we needed to start weening her away from the TV. We now try to focus on other items when we get home except for afternoon cartoons. Her favorites seem to be Clifford and Arthur, but is attracted to anything animated. For this reason I have to be carful or she starts changing channels and stops on The Simpsons! Heaven forbid!

My nephews and niece love TV, and my sister tries to limit the amount, particularly violent shows. (They won't get cable, and their antenna only picks up PBS with any clarity.)

While visiting my mom, they were bored and wanted to watch cartoons, so I tried to finds something in the listings that would not be overly violent. The only thing that sounded promising was "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" so we turned that on. Turns out the spider got a gun and brought retribution to an evil pet store owner. *sigh*

And what's the deal with Caillou (pr. ki yu).

Why is he bald at four years old?

Why did the anglicize almost everyones name but left the little boy with a dopey frog name?
