Default Old Video Game Systems

Has anyone recently purchased an old video game system (NES, SNES, Genesis)? I'm looking to buy one and I was wondering what store/site would be my best option for price, reliability, and selection. Other than EBay and Amazon, I'm lost.

I'd say ebay or a local pawn shop. If you can find one cheaper on ebay (including shipping), then be sure to buy off of someone with a return policy.

eBay is definitely the best spot for this. The retailers that I know used to sell older stuff (Gamestop, Gamecrazy) have tried to clear out their inventory through sales, but they might still have some of it laying around. Is there any reason you're looking for something other than eBay/Amazon?

So, you're not looking for an Atari 2600 then?

Ebay or Craigs List are probably your best options.

My nephew has great success cruising garage sales. Gets a lot of stuff real cheap but selection is pretty much hit or miss.

You may be better off downloading an emulator. Of course, I'm not sure about the legality of them, but they are out there for pretty much every old system, and you can get every game ever made for them.

Why not get a Wii, you should be able to play all the old games with it.

I've purchased my fair share of games, replacement parts and accessories for my NES on eBay. I have no complaints, other than those jerks at customs wanting more money to let me have what I bought. Granted, I haven't bought a full system, but I would expect similar results.

I have a Super NES lying around with a slightly used Super Mario Bros 3 cartridge. I can did through the gargage.

Or you can try ebay as others have suggested.

It seems as though eBay/Amazon are my best bet... thanks everyone!

I wasn't really looking for something to avoid eBay or Amazon, I was just curious if there was anything better out there that I may have missed in my searching.

I've used emulators before, but I own a mac now, so there are some compatibility issues. As for the legal issues, I think you're allowed to have the emulator if you own the game/system.

The Wii's controller bothers me, and I'm saving for a PS3.
