If they go undefeated and everyone else has one loss, I don't know how you can leave them out. Today was the first game they won by less than 7 points. And they soundly beat Oregon State who beat USC. If they win out, nobody can prove that anyone is any better so they should be in the title game.
That's all for now.

I could say the same about Rutgers, and they don't play each other.
If both run the table, the nod is to Rutgers. They will have been undeafeted in a BCS conference, and beaten two top 15 teams. That should be a ticket to the dance.

If Rutgers loses and Boise State doesn't, Boise State is in though, right?

Sadly, I think it depends on more than Boise winning.

Boise State has zero chance of being in the championship. If every other team in the conversation loses every other game they play for the rest of the year, OSU and Michigan would have a rematch. No way does Boise State leapfrog the pack.
Note, I'm not saying this is fair, or that they don't deserve a chance to prove that they're the best team. If we had a playoff, they'd get that chance. In this system, they have no chance. They need to be ranked high enough in the subjective polls to overcome a really weak schedule (which will bring down their computer rank), and I just don't see that happening.

Perhaps there should be a playoff so that .......... nah, we don't need it.
-- The BCS works. -- That would cut out valuable study time for the student-athletes. -- The public doesn't want a playoff. What other excuses am I missing here? |

I give Boise State a ton of credit. But seriously... they barely beat San Jose State.
Yes, a playoff system takes the issue away. In the absence of a playoff system, there's no way they should be in the National Championship game.

I hope this thread is a joke. I know Boise State is.

SJSU was 6-2 and they were playing at SJSU. You're not going to win every game by 21 or more points, particularly road games, no matter how good you are.
