Hand for discussion: Vul v Non-Vul (IMPs)

AQJ82
943
64
Q75

LHO deals
P - 1D - (dbl*) - 1
2H - P - P - 2S (A)

*takeout per ops card
Do you agree with A? and other bids?

Hands
Spoiler:

Hands:
LHO
:SP: T975
AJT62
J5
84

RHO (The takeout doubler)
K6
87
AQT87
KJ32

Partner
43
KQ5
K932
AT96

Needless to say I went down plenty (especially when I played RHO for 4 spades)

I found I was after this hand at the 'takeout double' did I have any right to be?

And just for fun:
Spoiler:

The 'takeout doubler' in the last round became my partner this round.

I hold:
A865
J
K865
KQ43

I open 1 diamond, p bids 1 spade, I bid 2 spades p bids 4 spades.

I lay down my dummy and P has:
K97432
AKQ7
A
J6

Down another 7.6 IMPS.

The correct bid for RHO was pass. Sometimes there are judgment calls but the X was downright lousy. I think that your 1 and 2 bids are reasonable. Since your 1 overcall shows 5 spades (at least I play it as such), partner would have an easy 2 raise with 3 trump but has not. Nevertheless with that suit quality, I would have competed to 2 because they might be due for +110 in hearts anyway.

Your partner is 90% to blame for the next one also. You did your part rebidding 2. If partner has a clue he will notice that 6 is likely with as little as A A or Q A K from your hand although you have another 4pts somewhere. I briefly wondered if you were worth a 3 call with your singleton, but it's a jack. I'd need something a bit more attractive like Axxx KQTx x AJxx

Without looking at the spoilers, I agree with 2S at IMPs. At matchpoints, may be dbl is a bid I might consider.
