Default Wine Thread

Please post your experiences with various wines.

I'll start:

Chandler Reach Vineyards: 2004 Corella
Washington
Yakima Valley
$16

Wonderful wine with dark tones of cherry and a fascinating and good finish for a wine of this price. 70% Sangioese, 25% Cabernet Sauvingnon, and 5% Syrah. Highly recommended.

Columbia Crest: 2002 "Two-vines" Merlot-Cabernet
Washington
Columbia Valley
$7

For seven dollars I don't know how you beat Columbia Crest wines. They make great Merlots, Cabernets, and in this case Merlot-Cabernet. A bit rough in the acidity, but powerful fruit and a clean finish for a wine of this price. Definitely a good candidate for everyday drinking.

I like ports, but mostly with cigars.

The last I drank was a wonderful 1985 Dow's. It was terrific, lots of sweet fruit flavors and a complexity that made it deep and brought out flavors in the cigar that made it a terrific pairing.

Actually had some of this last night. Agreed that it is a very good low cost wine.

Carlo Rossi Red Burgundy

Sweet, and not very interesting. An ideal wine for making gluewein though.

$12 for a 4-liter jug.

My current fave -

Mirassou Pinot Noir, about $11.

We'll open one, then another, next thing you know we're heading to work with a hangover.
