Been reviewing this test a little the past few days, and I remain so aggravated by it.

The Valuation focus of 4 points on question 1 is ludicrous. That’s 10% of this exam. I’ve gone through the syllabus material twice and still can’t find the answer for question 1(b).
Take out those 4 points, and I think I pass pretty cleanly. But here I am, with my fate hinging on my inability to recall facts that are so insignificant and unrelated that I can’t find them even now, with an open book and zero time constraints. So annoying.
Well, one more week. Hope for justice, expect a lack of it, and hope the stress doesn’t kill me in the interim. Never change, SOA.

The more I think about this exam, the more frustrated I get.  Looking through the objectives and source material, and I still can’t find a significant portion of the points on this exam.  For anything that minor to be included on a short exam is just not right.

It’s so aggravating to have put in this much work and to have developed a deep understanding of the source material and important implications for Life Insurance companies, and then to come away feeling as if randomness will play a very large part in determining the outcome (which, by the way, literally shapes the rest of your life).

Glad to hear that everyone seems to be on the same page.  I thought this exam did a very poor job at putting students in a position to convey the knowledge that we’ve learned.

Agree that Q1 wasn’t fair to assume valuation knowledge and there should never be a 7 point subsection on a 40 point exam, IMO.  There’s too much material that can be tested, to put that much stress on one area.

I also didn’t recall the capital requirements being covered, and thought other questions were extremely vague, where they could have applied to multiple readings from the syllabus.

Again, frustrating to not feel in a position to convey your knowledge of the syllabus material.

I would guess to allow candidates to check their own status, before their co-workers do.

Why the sample answers haven’t yet been posted for the fall sitting… now that question is beyond me.  Seems to me that those should be posted immediately after the sitting, to allow for potential discrepancies with source material.  But apparently the SOA doesn’t think so.
