Using TIA as well.
I have similar thoughts of the first pass. Just have to grind through the material and absorb as much as you can. For me, studying is always difficult starting out, but I’m starting to find my groove (and starting to say goodbye to my social life). Ready for a challenging few months ahead.
Thanks Zack. I appreciate the hard work you all put into these study materials!
I used TIA in the fall. While I found it to be a good review, I didnt love their practice tests. They seemed to focus on weird things (e.g. a huuuge question on Importance Sampling, when it is literally only mentioned in one paragraph in the source material). Loved Eddie’s videos. Zack is fine too. I did find their message board and response time/commentary to be very helpful. Their instructors are readily available for any questions you have.
Decided to switch things up and use PAK for the spring. I found it to be incredibly frustrating… terrible overview of material, not much commentary on topics, and their practice questions only came from a handful of readings. Would not recommend to anyone who would want to pass. They were very unhelpful with any questions people had. I found myself going back to old TIA material I had saved and doing my own review of source material. I would stay far away form PAK for LAM.
Took this exam in the Fall of 2020. Never felt more confident about an exam… devastated when I got a 5.
Walked out of the Spring 2021 exam feeling terrible (as we all did). Just a brutal sitting. Really didn’t expect to pass.
Shocked to see my number on the list this morning. I passed. I’m still in shock.
for those that didn’t get it – keep your head up! This was a tough one. You’ll get it next time!
Yeah I wrote a few paragraphs in the survey they sent out today. I will make sure to make my opinions heard via email as well
I’m right there with you. I put in many many hours this sitting, especially after getting a 5 last sitting, I wanted to know this syllabus inside and out. Incredibly frustrating to think about. It’s not an effective way of testing our knowledge.
Definitely on the level of Spring 2020, but a bit more difficult. I thought Q2 & 3 were fair. Verbal parts of Q1 were good, calc not so much. And Q4 had an easy first part followed by a soul-crushing 7 pointer to finish.
Mr. Christ – I’m asking for any assistance you/your dad can provide in helping me get a passing score. Thanks dude.
I kept getting d1 & d2 values that weren’t contained in the Normal table provided, so I panicked and just wrote down formulas and said how I would have approached the problem.
I thought the exam was very harsh. I agree with the calculations on Q1 – did not think that was on the syllabus at all. Additionally, having a 7 point calculation question at the end of the exam is just cruel. Did not have any time to finish, so I just wrote down a bunch of formulas. I felt the verbal was fair, and he calculation questions were either: simple, extremely difficult, or “I think they meant to ask this on the Financial Management Exam”.
I’m pretty worried. some practice exams go great, others are a bloodbath. Spring 2020 is brutal to look over. I just hope it more like the fall exams
How is everyone feeling about the exam?
