@Tigger: totally, garlic is a popular and can be considered as a friend with positive influence for many…
@Roast_Beef: You are welcome, and welcome (to the forum). Also, please don’t mind my joke.I think this is the link: https://www.casact.org/admissions/index.cfm?fa=examchanges
btw, are you friends with garlic?
Jokes aside though, I think we all owe the graders/volunteers a big thank you. It’s gotta be tough to be marking/administering the post exam process through the holiday season, and maybe for some, through year end.
… Sorry I got my math wrong… edited
Tigger, check GoActuary.
The sample size in both forums are probably way to small to really be used to gauge the sentiments of the candidates.
Actually I’d prefer that… I’ve always hated the dreadful wait till sentencing date. I’d rather just get an email saying:” go check now”
I have the option to edit for like 5 mins or so, after that the option disappears. Does the option to edit stay for you?
Meh, I think this is more of an issue for old geezers like myself (YMMV, not saying your old like me haha). I doubt a survey will change much since there will be people more adopted to the computer.
I am still used to doing stuff on pen and paper… I print out most of the study material so I can read it on paper (as oppose to screen). It’s just too hard to read on a computer, I am just not used to it.
I am just more used to solving problems on paper… so it will just take time for me to adjust (same thing with not able to start a damn formula on excel with a + sign)… I admit I didn’t use the scratch book as much as I should have in the exam… again, it’s just something I need to get use to.
Another thing I notice is that I seemed to glance over things much more on screen than it is on paper, again it is something to get used to.
Edit: Hey ResACt26, do you have an acct on GoActuary? The inability to at least edit your post here is super annoying…
It’s something I’ve noticed as well. Even though excel simplified some of the calculations, I find 1). It seems to take me longer to process a question on the computer and then formulate the response on a computer, 2). It is an absolute pain to work on some of the more formula intensive questions (like the frequently tested long formula in BKM7, oddly, I can’t recall if it was on the exam or not anymore).
I would really love to know if someone has come up with a trick on how to take on dealing with long formulas in excel.
I don’t know why, but I tried to fit a log normal distribution to this, I used mu=2.6, and sigma=.3393, with an expected value of 14.26 days, and SD of 5 days. The mode is right around 12 days (Thursday the 28th). Originally I tried to set the expected value to be 12 days (with a SD around 7 days), but it would assign too much probability to lower values (e.g results in less than 12 days) which is really unlikely. With this distribution, there is a less than 19% change the result will come out in less than 10 days, and 37% change the result will come out in less than 12 days.
Why am I doing this? To procrastinate of course… Anyone that’s not studying got a better distribution? It’s a shame, there are so many distributions out there, and I am not familiar with most of them…
Nop
I got 2 more to go… but for some reason I am a lot more anxious about this result for some reason. Maybe it’s COVID, maybe it’s the change in format… maybe it’s because I choked hard on the exam…
Well, I was going to start studying this week, but I think I’ll push it till Feb. I am using year end valuation as an excuse I guess… I don’t think I have ever won a battle against procrastination self…
just out of curiosity, does any of you see anything new in the “current exam credits”? Obviously I don’t see anything new, but just curious.
Amen to that.
Though I wonder, maybe we should bring these casual conversation to another forum? I wonder if the new AO is more intended for professional conversation, and some of our past threads can almost be seen as conduct unbecoming.
I thought I was the only one that couldn’t resist the temptation… Deep breath, we are all nervous but we will be ok.
