I don’t know. But the email about the test banks said they would send out the pass percentages.
Unfortunately, you do need to know that. Understanding the examiner’s report is helpful.
Yeah I understand. I sent a myriad of appeals on exam 6 in the past. Always just stated the following: “Your appeal was rejected”
It certainly possible they raised the MQC so only x% pass.
No one here knows the secret sauce. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do.
If it makes you feel better, just don’t give up! I know a guy who took exam 6 i think 8 times one 4, 6 5s, and one pass… And most of the sittings was when it was offered once a year. So I encourage you guys to keep trying.
I took exam 6 five years ago. They take off a nice chunk of points on every question for not being specific or adding something incorrect. So if you lose 0.5 points and 1 point here and there it adds up.
My first attempt at it I got a 5 and there wasn’t much I didn’t know then. My second attempt I got a 6 and thought I dominated it. It’s just a higher threshhold with partial credit.
My birthday is soon. If I pass this would be the best present the CAS has ever given to me because I would be done.
Why don’t you plan on looking on results day?
Keep refreshing, may take past 3 from my past experiences.
Sorry I meant people didn’t know how to do 3-4 questions right.
So we don’t know what that means. Did people throw down something for them (I did – I have semi-reasonable approaches for most – but who knows) or did people just write formulas. Who knows what anyone will get on those questions.
Because of that, that is precisely why I think most people are in a similar boat. I wouldn’t be surprised that on 2 of them everyone got 0 points for and then it becomes a question how much partial credit you get on the other two.
BTW I had a friend who consistently left 3-4 questions blank and always passed. Because he dominated the rest of the test when others didn’t. He did this on upper levels (he is an FCAS now).
And for all we know everyone got all 4 questions wrong got 0s and the pass mark was moved from a 70% to a 65%. That’s pretty unlikely.
It’s about reading between the lines. Most people don’t post on the actuarial forums. Out of the people who posted they said something to the extent of I didn’t know how to do 4-5 problems but it went okay and I have a shot at passing. That’s the same thing as saying I did horrible because I didn’t know how to do 4-5 problems.
Everyone I talked to in real life, did not feel great but thought they had a shot. Basically similar.
I would imagine exam 9 is last. I can’t see how the others will be as controversial.
I am not sure that is a fair take. They are grading on their free time. Whether you pass or fail doesn’t change if you find out two weeks later/earlier (unless they change the pass mark).
They have lives and are volunteering.
I definitely agree that the exams should have been scheduled for June not the beginning of May…
You aren’t going to make them grade faster. It would just create discontent. They might not be enthralled with your letter and you might be further annoyed that they ignore you.
I imagine that not every grader would be in the loop.
They said that in the past. They never said that I’m regards to this sitting. If they are coming up with rules and guidelines while grading because a spreadsheet exam is different that would take longer.
Ultimately we won’t know why it is taken so long. But if the result is them taking a longer time and 45% candidates instead of 40% than that is actually a good thing.
